Privacy Policy
How your information is handled
Effective July 30, 2026. Compliant with GDPR (EU), UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA (California), PIPEDA (Canada), LGPD (Brazil), and POPIA (South Africa).Your privacy matters to me. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit vaelynhargrave.com, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
Data controller: Vaelyn Hargrave, Seattle, Washington, USA. Contact: inquiries [at] vaelynhargrave.com.
Information Collected
This Site does not operate a backend server, does not run a database, and does not collect or store form submissions. The only personal data processing occurs through third-party services embedded in the Site:
- PostHog (EU): analytics, hosted entirely on EU infrastructure in Frankfurt. Collects pages visited, session duration, approximate geographic region, device type, and referral source. It also records session replays — a reconstruction of your visit showing navigation, scrolling, and clicks, which I may watch to understand how the Site is used. No typed text is captured; the Site has no forms or input fields. Nothing is collected, and no cookie or browser storage is written, until you accept analytics in the cookie banner. If you decline, your visit is counted using a privacy-preserving server-side hash that cannot identify you or link your visits together. Replaced Google Analytics in July 2026. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- Setmore: the booking calendar on the Invest page. If you schedule a meeting, Setmore collects your name, email address, and appointment details. See Setmore's Privacy Policy.
- Netlify: the Site is hosted on Netlify, which may log server-side access data (IP address, browser, request time) for security and delivery purposes. Replaced GitHub Pages in July 2026. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.
- Email contact: if you contact me via the email button, your address and message content are received directly in my inbox and used solely to respond to your inquiry.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information (CCPA/CPRA)
I do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. This applies to all visitors, including California residents. Because no sale occurs, a formal "Do Not Sell" opt-out mechanism is not required; however, you may contact me at any time to confirm that your data has not been and will not be sold.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): analytics to understand how the Site is used and improve it.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): where required by law, analytics cookies are set only with your prior consent.
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): processing your email when you contact me to respond to your inquiry.
Data Retention
Analytics data, including session replays, is retained by PostHog for 12 months and then deleted. Email correspondence is retained as long as reasonably needed. I do not sell personal data.
International Transfers
Analytics data does not leave the EEA. PostHog is used on its EU Cloud region, where all event and session data is stored on infrastructure in Frankfurt, Germany. This replaced Google Analytics in July 2026, which had transferred analytics data to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses.
Setmore may transfer booking data internationally if you schedule a meeting. Netlify, which hosts the Site, may process server access logs outside the EEA. See Setmore's and Netlify's privacy policies for their safeguards.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data; to object to processing; and to opt out of sale (I do not sell data). To exercise any right, contact inquiries [at] vaelynhargrave.com. I will respond within 30 days (GDPR) or 45 days (CCPA). EEA and UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
Children's Privacy
This Site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). I do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact me and I will delete it promptly.
Cookie Policy
Cookies & tracking technologies
Effective July 30, 2026. Compliant with EU ePrivacy Directive, UK PECR, and CCPA.This Site uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. This policy explains what they are and how to control them.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide reporting information. Cookies set by the website owner are first-party cookies; cookies set by other parties are third-party cookies.
Cookies Used on This Site
- PostHog (ph_phc_*): a first-party analytics cookie, plus related entries in your browser's local storage. Stores a random identifier so return visits can be recognised as the same browser, and supports session replay — see the Privacy Policy above for what that records. Set only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner; decline, or ignore the banner, and nothing is stored at all. Data is held on EU infrastructure in Frankfurt. Category: Analytics / Performance.
- Setmore session cookies: set only on the Invest page when the Setmore booking iframe loads, to maintain your session state within the booking widget. Category: Functional / Necessary for the booking feature.
This Site does not use advertising, retargeting, or profiling cookies.
Your Cookie Choices
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect the core functionality of this Site. Browser guides: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. You can also change your choice at any time using the “Manage Cookies” link in the footer, which reopens the consent panel.
EEA & UK Visitors
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR, non-essential cookies require prior consent from visitors in the EEA and UK. Analytics cookies are non-essential. Until you accept analytics in the cookie banner, PostHog writes nothing to your device — no cookie, no local or session storage — and captures no events or session replay. If you decline, your visit is counted only as a privacy-preserving server-side hash, which cannot identify you or connect your visits. Analytics data stays in the EEA. If you believe any of this is not the case, please contact me.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. This Site does not currently alter its behavior in response to DNT signals, as no universal standard for DNT compliance exists.
